Leader in the rapid growth of publishing division. Develop strategic plans to identify imprint niches, new business opportunities, and required resources. Integrate newly acquired companies within division.

Assist international subsidiaries with product development.

  • Editorial, design, and production oversight for 160 originated and packaged products annually for foreign and domestic markets.
  • Spec books, obtain bids, select printers, and analyze sales to set print quantities. Attend press checks as necessary.
  • Responsible for foreign rights contracts and deliverables.
  • Contract administrator: draft documents for varied applications, review all staff-negotiated and vendor contracts, maintain legal files, liaison with corporate attorney.
  • Direct staff of six plus freelance editors, designers, and illustrators.

Create identity and logos for publishing division and imprints. Establish acquisition plan, product development procedures, and editorial standards, including Americanization guidelines for foreign copublications.

  • Implement tech-based solutions for cost-effective product development (on-line editing of Quark files, digital creation of bar codes, software site licenses, and title management database).

  • Negotiate contracts with authors, agents, and publishers for origination, copublication, or distribution rights.
